Govetts Leap Lookout

The beautiful rolling hills and rocky escarpments of Blue Mountain National Park can be found to the west of Sydney. This incredible park showcases the elegance of Australia’s natural sights, from the graceful flow of water off the edge of towering cliffs to the awe-inspiring valleys filled with Blue Gums, there is no shortage of spectacular scenery from the viewpoints throughout the park.

The grandeur of the land is evident at first glance, and one of the very best places to view this incredible landscape is from Govetts Leap Lookout. It is easily accessible by car and the nearby train station of Blackheath offers bus trip. It’s a great idea to arrive at this spectacular lookout in the early hours of the morning to watch the sun rise over the breathtaking valley, you will see the cliffs around you light up with the sun’s golden rays.

The highlight of this particular lookout is the clear view of Govetts Leap Falls, also known as Bridal Veil falls, this magnificent stream of water curves over the side of the ridge and cascades 184m down into the valley below. The lookout also has 2 picnic tables and bathroom facilities, making it the perfect place for you to stop and eat while enjoying the view during your trip to Blue Mountain National Park.

There are several great hiking trails around Govetts Leap Lookout which allow you to explore the surrounding area on foot. Once you’ve seen Bridal Veil falls from afar, you can get a closer look by making your way along the easy, 15-minute bushwalking trail that will bring you to the top of the waterfall. You can also check out Evans Lookout by making your way along the Cliff Top Track, this 3km trail will take you a little over an hour to complete, but it’ll be worthwhile because of the view of the iconic Three Sisters rock formation. If you’re looking to get your blood pumping, then you can begin your descent into Grose Valley, this steep and rocky path will be sure to challenge even the most experienced hikers, giving you the chance to put your skills to the test.
