Katoomba is nestled amongst the sprawling scenery of the Blue Mountains, and is the most visited town in the region.

Katoomba, NSW

Set against a backdrop of rolling green hills and some of Australia’s most mind-blowing natural landscapes, it’s the perfect place to hole up for a few days and explore.

The town itself was discovered at the end of the 19th Century, when a coal mine was opened up by J.B. North. For many years, coal was collected from the sides of the mountain and was elevated to the top by cable car. These days, the Scenic Railway operates the same route, and, even though tourists have replaced coal, the views are still just as spectacular.

With such an incredible natural landscape, Katoomba is perfect for adventure lovers, but it also offers a heavy dose of culture and tradition.
