Lincoln’s Rock, also known as Flat Rock, is one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the Blue Mountains. Located in Wentworth Falls, Lincoln’s Rock is best known as the lookout where you can sit on the edge and overlooking Jamison Valley.

Lincoln’s Rock history

Lincoln’s Rock was named after Lincoln Hall in 2013 after his death. Lincoln was an Australian mountaineer, adventurer, and author. Lincoln was part of the first Australian expedition in 1984 to climb Mount Everest. Doing this climb, they forged a new route on Everest. Lincoln passed away in early 2012 from mesothelioma, a type of cancer.

The best time to visit

Lincoln’s Rock has breathtaking views throughout the entire day. The best time to visit is at sunset. The lookout does get busy around sunset, so arrive early to secure a parking spot.

Additionally, the sunrise view is just as beautiful and if you go on a sunny day, you will have sweeping views stretching across Jamison Valley.

  • Walking trails

See more of the Blue Mountains by following some walking trails. There are tracks through the area including the Graft Cliff Top Walk, Wentworth Falls Track, and the Valley of the Waters Track.

  • Birdwatching

The Blue Mountains is home to several Australian birds and is the perfect place to go birdwatching. Keep an eye out for colourful birds as you explore the area. Popular birds you could see are rainbow lorikeets, rosellas, Australian king parrots, and the funny laughing kookaburras.

  • Wentworth Falls

Wentworth Falls is a popular waterfall in the Blue Mountains. The 3-tiered waterfall is 187 metres high with a picnic area close by. You can see the waterfall on an hour return walk with stops at lookouts and views of Jamison Valley.
