The Blue Mountains is home to some of the most picturesque, breathtaking sunrises in the whole country.
If you’re looking for a place to see the sunrise in the Blue Mountains, you’ll be spoiled for choice! The sunrises here are spectacular and completely worth the early wake-up. Go for a sunrise hike across the Jamison Valley to catch some stunning views.
There are a vast number of lookout points in the Blue Mountains. Here’s our favourites!
Echo Point
Echo Point is one of the most popular places to see the sunrise in the Blue Mountains. From this lookout point, you will see the sunrise behind the Three Sisters. If you go to Echo Point you’ll likely be sharing the viewpoint with lots of other tourists. It’s the most famous lookout point in Katoomba because of the Three Sisters rock formation.
Seeing the sunrise from Echo Point is a daily natural spectacle. Watch as the sun peeps out from behind the iconic rock formation. What a great way to start your day!
From behind the horizon line, you’ll be able to see the whole valley
Govetts Leap
In the very early hours of the morning, Govetts Leap is covered in a thick blanket of frost which blankets the whole valley. If you’re lucky, it’ll be a very misty morning and you’ll get to see a whole blanket of mist. The cliffs here are dramatic and expansive, and you’ll be able to see across the whole of the Grose Valley.
This sunrise spot is peaceful and serene, and the thick fog makes the whole scene look very mystical. There’s a viewing platform, although there are also a few different walking tracks nearby that you can explore.
The Pinnacles
This spot offers some panoramic views of the valley and the mountains. The sunrise in this spot can be very stunning – the early morning light forms shadows over the rocks, making some interesting light patterns on the rocks. Don’t forget your camera!
Yellow rock
Visiting Yellow Rock?
If you are visiting Yellow Rock for a sunrise, you won’t be disappointed. You’ll get a great view of the Nepean River, and you’ll be able to see the river glistening with the yellow sunlight.
There’s a walking path just next to the river where you’ll be able to take a sunrise trail and enjoy the morning.
