Best Walks Near Katoomba

There are many different walks you can go on near Katoomba. With plenty of lookout points, waterfalls and interesting trails, you’re never going to be short on walks to do around Katoomba.

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or you’re more into gentle strolls, the walking trails near Katoomba are some of the most beautiful in the state. With too many lookouts to count and trails that cut through the bush forever, you won’t be stuck on places to go in Katoomba.

Wentworth Falls Track

Wentworth Falls

It’s an easy hike from the bottom of the walking track, just under a kilometre at 770m. The whole return hike is relatively easy, at just a 1.6km return.

Wentworth Falls is impressive any day of the year but after rainfall, it is especially beautiful.

This scenic cliff-top loop allows vistas for days. Or hike to Prince Rock Lookout for a better view of the whole waterfall. To avoid the crowds, head over to Prince Rock Lookout.

Katoomba Cliff Circuit via Cliff View Lookout and Solitary Lookout

This is a very famous circuit loop that is 1.8km long. This trail offers an easy route that is about 29 minutes. It’s a safe place to hike, as it’s populated with lots of people. Also, the trail is open all year round so it doesn’t take too much planning. Just turn up and get your hiking boots on! This is a short, family-friendly walk. Check out other slightly longer walks joining the area if you’re looking to increase your walk.

The lookout over the Kedumba Valley is breathtaking and vast, and the emptiness of the valley below is quite humbling. A popular spot for photos!

Prince Henry Cliff Walk

This walk takes around 3-4 hours to complete. It’s an easy-moderate hike, but of course, you should set some time aside during your day as it’s quite a long one! Some beautiful landscapes and waterfalls offer plenty of walking trails in the area. The viewpoints you can see along the way are particularly stunning – including the Three Sisters, Echo Point and the Giant Stairway.

Witches Leap Falls

 You can see the Witches Leap Circuit just linking off from the iconic Prince Henry Cliff Walk. Why is called Witches Leap Falls? Scottish explorers thought the face in the rock looked like a witch’s face. The face is naturally formed into the rock behind a cascade of water. It looks like an unsettling face carved into the rock – check it out on your hike!
