Each waterfall is charming! Don’t forget to snap some photos of the waterfalls and enjoy the peace of the Blue Mountains bushland. Adelina Falls is a popular waterfall, while Junction Falls and Federal Falls are a little more hidden as they crop up further along the walking trail.

This is one of the more peaceful walking trails in the Blue Mountains, and you’ll likely only share the trail with a small scattering of other hikers.

Be mindful of the wet rocks near the falling water! Wear shoes with good grip, and watch your step as you walk – especially if it’s rained!

Local wildlife

Keep your eyes peeled for the local wildlife along the way. Look up into the eucalyptus trees and you might spot koalas! You’ll likely see a whole array of different birds gliding through the trees. Listen closely to the different bird sounds!

Look into the bushes, and you’ll see wallabies bouncing around. Wallabies are particularly active in the morning!

This is a great walk for photographers, nature lovers, and anyone craving a peaceful walk in nature.

Lawson itself is a small town nestled in the heart of the Blue Mountains. It’s not far from Hazelbrook, and only a short drive away from Katoomba.

The town itself has basic amenities, but the nature around it is beautiful!

Is the South Lawson Waterfall worth it?

If you’ve got some time to spare in the Blue Mountains, then we recommend heading to the South Lawson Waterfall! This circuit walk is a peaceful retreat into nature. Due to its distance from Katoomba and all the main attractions in the Blue Mountains, it’s a more locally known and less visited by the heaps of tourists who visit the Blue Mountains every year.

Only got one day in the Blue Mountains? We’d recommend heading to the major attractions, such as Echo Point and Katoomba – and taking a walking tour around the most popular beauty spots!
