Dog-Friendly Areas of the Blue Mountains
Most national parks in Australia are a no-dog zone! That means you can’t take your dog (even in the car) to certain parts of the Blue Mountains.
But don’t worry! You and your furry friend can still enjoy the beauty of the Blue Mountains together. As the national park in the Blue Mountains is pretty big, this might seem a bit restrictive – but actually, you’re still able to take your dog to some areas!

Why aren’t dogs allowed in the Blue Mountains?
The natural landscapes in many Australian national parks are highly protected areas. Not only is the land sacred, but nature and ecosystems can be fragile. It’s already been damaged after European settlement and civilisation, so we want to make sure the land remains untouched and looked after as physically possible.
Even though your furry friend may be harmless and friendly, they can disturb the wildlife that already lives there. Their scent, their poop, and any noises they make while they’re exploring the bushland can disturb the local wildlife.
There are still dog-friendly areas of the Blue Mountains, with specialised dog-walking areas and cafes.
Dog-Friendly Walks in the Blue Mountains

Local council paths will signpost certain walking paths to let visitors know whether it is a dog-friendly zone or not.

Dog-friendly lookout points

While you won’t be able to bring your dog on the skyway, cableway or railways of Scenic World to look at the 360 degree panoramas… You can still enjoy viewpoints like Echo Point and Lincoln’s Rock in Wentworth Falls. Head to Lincoln’s Rock at sunset for an even more magical view.
Escape into the Blue Mountains with your furry friend and share these magical views with your paw-pals! If you remain in the council reserve zones, your little four-legged friends can enjoy the beautiful nature of the Blue Mountains.
