Lincoln’s Rock is named after Lincoln Hall, who sadly died in 2012. Known for having a near-death experience on Mount Everest, Hall survived this extreme event, and this viewpoint was named after him.
Edge of the cliff…
If you get the camera angle right, it will look like you’re positioned on the edge of the cliff (there’s actually a ledge underneath).
That being said, you should still take it easy if you’re standing on the edge of a cliff to take a photo! Wear shoes with a good grip and don’t go too close to the edge.
Flat Rock (or Lincoln Rock) overlooks the entire Jamison Valley. It’s a highly accessible viewpoint, and its large viewing area has made it a popular spot for photos.

Exploring Lincoln’s Rock
Getting up to Lincoln’s Rock involves just a 25-minute return bushwalk to the cliff’s edge. It’s a very easy, clear pathway that leads to the viewpoint with plenty of signposting.
It can be a relatively busy spot, so when you get to the rock, you might end up sharing it with other people.
